This year’s Sta-Sof-Fro Soweto Fashion Week was a dazzling celebration of African heritage, innovation, and glamour, where tradition met cutting-edge style on one unforgettable runway.
With every stitch and silhouette, the event took place at the Soweto Theatre and showcased a bold, unapologetic fusion of cultural pride and contemporary flair, setting the stage for a new era in African fashion.
Sta-Sof-Fro Brand Manager, Pearle Peane reflected on the brand’s evolving role in the fashion and beauty space.
“Fashion and hair are deeply intertwined in the journey of self-expression,” says Peane.
“It’s been inspiring to see such bold, unique looks grace the runway, bringing our vision to life alongside these incredible designers,” says Peane.
Among the lineup, celebrated designer Sun Goddess captivated audiences with a collection rooted in African mythology and symbolism. Their designs featured vibrant hues and intricate patterns that honoured the essence of African royalty and heritage.
“We wanted to create something that resonates with our African identity but speaks universally,” says Sun Goddess. “Our aim was to celebrate tradition while embracing the future of African fashion.”
The highly anticipated show also spotlighted Tumi Captivating Fashion, whose collection brought a fusion of modern silhouettes and culturally inspired patterns.
With flowing fabrics and unexpected textures, Tumi’s designs were an evolution of African fashion.
“Our collection celebrates the versatility of African beauty and power. We wanted each piece to reflect strength and grace, embodying the spirit of Africa in every stitch,” says Tumi.
Emerging designer and last year’s Soweto Fashion Week Summer 2023 winner, Style by Ali, made a memorable impression with a collection focused on youthful elegance and bold creativity.

Soweto Fashion Week Founder and CEO Stephen Manzini expressed his excitement about the diverse lineup and the event’s success in showcasing both established and emerging talent.
“This year’s theme was all about ‘evolving expressions,’ and our designers delivered beyond expectation. We’re proud to see the industry embrace both tradition and innovation, providing a platform where African fashion can shine on a global stage,” says Manzini.
